I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that my memory is shot and that I need to make allowances for it. As of Sunday night, after months of procrastination, I’m attempting to fully embrace the “Getting Things Done” (GTD) method of work. In a few short hours I had myself a Kinkless GTD system, some 3×5 index cards and ical subscribing to the google calendar. At the end of it all there was a Hipster PDA ready for me to start working on my checking of my tasks.

Today has been my first day using the method and I feel good going to bed knowing that I’ve actually achieved a lot of my tasks. At the moment I’m still enjoying ticking things off the link in the same way that I like watching and deleting shows off the tivo. Its disturbing at how easily Kinkless fits in to my way of life. I’m not anal and I’m easily distracted so if I was doing the full project management methods with gantt charts I’d end up spending more time on picking the colour than deciding the finer details. Kinkless frees me of all of that stuff and simplifies it all. It fits so well that I’m beginning to think I can’t live without it which is a problem since it only runs on OSX.

The only hitch in my plans is that I can’t find plain white 3×5″ index cards in the city. I’ve tried office works, the newsagency and WC Penfolds (which has closed down) and they either have nothing or ruled lines. I’m going to have to resort to Amazon if I don’t find an Australian company soon.

Now, I’ll leave you so I can cross off the “write a blog entry about GTD” task in my Kinkless system. Today’s tasks will be complete then.
