It’s been a week of no action on the renovation front since Shamus has been in Western Australia. Finally today there has been some action thanks to the electricians fitting all the lights and even a surprise vent in the shower and smoke detector that I wasn’t expecting. This is what the upstairs room looks like with lights:
In 2003/2004 I designed a vanity mirror to go in to the bathroom and my friend Keith at work who is skilled with wood kindly made it for me. It’s been sitting in the corner of my dining room for almost 4 years waiting for it’s moment in the sun and today was the day it finally arrived. It’s designed to display old medical/chemist items on the outside:
And newer products like hair care and deodorant on the inside (still need to put the bulbs for the lights in):
I think the down light above the sink downstairs makes it look really lush:
While the orange light is mood lighting for a shower, or those times when you are making a quick visit to the loo from the movie room and don’t want your eyes to adjust
As you can see the carpet still isn’t in (maybe monday?):
The light under the deck outside will be more useful when we pave outside (one day):
Can’t say I love fluorescent lights but they are a must in a garage:
Finally we have a sensor light out the front!
I love how the upstairs is so older style while downstairs is totally modern, it’s great that you get a chance to experience the best of both worlds. Is there anything left to be done upstairs?
I agree that it is good to have both. Still haven’t been able to have a bath yet as we are waiting on the longer faucet. The painting hasn’t been totally finished upstairs and we still need to put up towel racks and art but we are about a week or two away from finishing (which I’ve said now for about 4 weeks).
I love my new home and can’t wait to move in!
