Thanks to the hard electrician work of Chris, my cousin Joan’s boyfriend, my back deck is now ready for night visits. As a person who sometimes has to do IT work for relatives I can understand how unappealing doing your job is after you’ve clocked off but Chris was very kind to help us out over the course of a few weekends. His work was top notch and I especially admired the tubing on the sensor spot light. As an unexpected outcome, I now think of him everytime I plug in the hair dryer.
I had some reservations about the lights I had picked since I know that lighting has a huge effect on how a room looks, but I’m very happy with how it turned out. Admittedly the lights on the deck could be seen as a little glarey, but I usually have my back to them so it’s not really an issue. I’m a bit of a fan of the shadows look as it provides a little mystery to the room. This is how they look:
What I have learnt though which I was a little bit stupid about, is the unwritten law about tradey work – you are supposed to buy them a slab of beer for their work in addition to any other donation you may have made. My mum alerted me to this belatedly, so I’m sorry Chris and I’ll make sure I fix that at christmas.
By the way, this is my 500th blog posting (even if all of them haven’t made it to a published state). Happy 500th blog post amyo.is-a-geek.net!
Oooh yeah I should have warned you about that. Once Mat received a pair of boxers for fixing his sisters car!! What the…? Maybe she bought them for her husband and they didn’t fit? Anyway, he still hasn’t worn them 🙂
Oh, and happy 500!!!
