I had no idea that stairs would take so long to put in, but I guess they are pretty tricky. Apparently it will end up being around 4-5 days work because it includes staining the steps. We had the choice to stain the balustrades as well, but I think painting them would fit in better with the picture rails on the wall. Unless anyone can come up with a good reason to stain them of course?

This was what I came home to on the second day:

Apparently the stair guy was missing one of the balustrades so he had to leave it like this:

IMG_3501.jpgThe next day (a Saturday!) stair guy and Shamus the builder came back to finish up the stairs and attach wood to the steel beams (for soundproofing). This is the final result:

IMG_3521.jpgThese steps will be polished some time during the week. At the moment they have covers on them so that they aren’t damaged by me who keeps going downstairs all the time now:

This is what it looks like from downstairs, excuse the scary tilt of the photo.  Under the stairs at their highest point will be the washing machine and a tub. The rest of the space will hopefully be used for storage:

Next on the agenda is the plasterboarding, but that won’t happen until at least the end of the week. Starting to have to think of paint colours and carpeting now!

That’s starting to look really good! I think painting them would look better as well, the white & the green will look nice.

White and green? Where do you see that? Chris mentioned something about it being green too. Have you guys got your screen calibrated wrong or something? It’s a grey wall. 🙂

Just looked at it again and yah, its grey. Maybe it’s just my eyes being lazy *grin*

Scary considering I’ve been there countless times too, and should know better!
