A nice breakfast in the Swissotel Club lounge, which included sausages and tomatoes. Then we were back on the Shinkansen heading for Odawara, which was a transfer station to get us to Hakone. On the train we encountered some other tourists just as we were getting off, they were asking if we were heading… Continue reading Day 5 – Osaka to Hakone

Day 4 – Kyoto to Osaka
Knowing that we were leaving Kyoto for Osaka later in the day, we got up early, had breakfast, checked out but left our bags at the hotel and headed for the train station. Day 41 – Kanchanaburi
6.10am and I was checked out and waiting in the lobby for my ride to Kanchanaburi and the River Kwai. My mini bus picked up a couple of Brits to add to the two Germans already in the bus and then we were taken to the grand palace to get on a bigger bus.
Day 34 – Hoi An to Nha Trang
Not much to say about today. Woke up at 6am and watched Fatal Attraction until breakfast. Went to the bakery to pick up a ham baguette, apple pie and chocolate croissant for lunch and dinner on the train.
Day 31 – Hue
Sleep was fitful but mostly quiet except for some guy walking down the hallway whistleing in the middle of the night. What the fuck is up with that? Day 23 – Bangkok
Watching the sun rise while in a bed underneath a guy isn’t something I can say has ever happened to me before but it happened just outside of Bangkok. To clarify, the guy was in a bunk bed above me on a train and it wasn’t the least romantic with the smell of some other… Continue reading Day 23 – Bangkok
Day 22 – Chiang Mai to Bangkok
Slow start to the day with jealousy pancakes for breakfast. Jealous cause that was what Pauline was making and I wanted some. Mine were a little dry but with bananas and honey.
Day 6 – Ronks to Philadelphia
Yet another day of missing photos. 🙁 *Update – the photos were recovered off the external hard drive* Had a restless night in the Olde Amish Inn. The bed was rather uncomfortable which made it difficult to sleep. But it did have a mirror and the sink outside the room where the toilet and shower… Continue reading Day 6 – Ronks to Philadelphia
Day 3 – Washington
Woke up with a door knock and phone call at 5.30am to find out our house had been broken in to and the car had been stolen. We’d only been gone two days and had our first break-in in 10 years. The car was stolen along with some electrical items. Not a great way to… Continue reading Day 3 – Washington
